Nutrition & Performance
At Avenue Plastic Surgery we are committed to a healthy lifestyle. While plastic surgery can be a fantastic way to get rid of stubborn fat and help sculpt the body you desire, surgery alone shouldn’t be looked at as a primary weight loss solution. A common misconception is that a tummy tuck or liposuction will easily give you the body you’ve always dreamed of.
Before Surgery — We highly recommend our patients are close to their ideal weight before plastic surgery.
After Surgery — It’s vital that patients live a healthy lifestyle to keep off unwanted weight and to maintain & strengthen their bodies.
Many of our patients ask for nutrition and exercise tips. We are excited for a new partnership we’ve created with Shelagh Marshall who is a nutrition specialist & Alan Warner, a certified strength and conditioning coach. Below, we’ve outlined their bios, credentials, and exclusive services we are thrilled to offer our patients.
Nutrition Specialist – Shelagh Marshall
Bio & Credentials:
Shelagh Marshall became a Registered Dietitian after receiving her degree in Nutrition Dietetics from Syracuse University. Throughout her career, she has worked with a variety of patient populations in various settings; from Neurotrauma Intensive Care Units to outpatient pediatric nutrition counseling, from bariatric surgery patients to disordered eating habits, she has obtained a wealth of nutrition knowledge and has developed an extremely effective approach to nutrition counseling.
Not only does Shelagh have the expertise in dietetics and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), but also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist her clients in being successful on their health and nutrition journeys regardless of their starting point. By combining CBT and MNT, she is able to identify and assist her clients in overcoming the obstacles that have held them back for years prior to working with her.
While choosing healthful foods is vital, Shelagh also is passionate about her clients being able to enjoy the foods they eat and is a firm believer that small, consistent changes can yield big results. She has been able to help countless clients on their weight management journeys, improving their health and self-confidence, and, thus, improving their overall quality of life.
By working with Shelagh, you are getting a true nutrition expert who will teach you about nutrition, counsel you on dietary improvements, and provide you with realistic behavior modifications to assist you in achieving your goals.
